About Evie Paterson

Name: Evie Paterson
D.O.B.: 09/02/92
Height: 5”9
Trainers: Tuffy Tilley, Kim Belton
Role Models: Pippa Funnell

Best achievement to date:

Difficult to say! My first big achievement was winning the 2008 U18 National Championships. I have been selected 2 years running for Junior British Eventing Team, finishing 16th and 12th at the Europeans. In October 09 I was second in the U21 National Championships, my first 2*.

Life time ambition:

Although everyone wants to win the Olympics, I would be quite happy winning Badminton, It is the most prestigious event in the world. Having said that I would love to earn my senior flag.

Most memorable equestrian experience:

My cross country round at Weston Park this year, my first 2*. It was so exhilarating, such an adrenalin rush. Chips made it feel so easy, jumping every fence brilliantly. It was much better than expected which only made it more enjoyable.

In what year did your sponsorship with Albion Start:

2008

How did sponsorship come about:

I won a years sponsorship with Albion when I won the 2008 U18 Championships, they have kindly offered to continue supporting me this year.

Why did you choose to work with Albion:

Even though I won the sponsorship initially, we chose to carry on working with Albion because of the fantastic personal service they offered. Paul and Sherry Belton have gone to huge trouble to get my saddles absolutely perfect. This attention to detail has made such a difference. In addition the quality of the product is brilliant.

What is your favourite Albion product and why:

My Kontact Lite XC saddle. The balance is superb, it really helps my lower leg stability. It is also very light and fits me and my horses so well that I don’t notice its there until I need to.

When /why did you first start riding:

I think I was first placed on a horse before I could walk! My family all ride and hunt so not riding was never really an option. I went through the usual Pony Club route and started affiliated eventing aged 14.

Best advice given:

To look at the bigger picture. It is very easy to loose sight on your long term goals but distancing myself from the situation allows me to analyse it and take positives from a setback. The horse’s long term development is more important than winning rosettes.

Likes:

Cats, reading, chocolate. American TV shows, the countryside in may, shopping, hockey.

Dislikes:

Spiders, brussel sprouts, scary films, the gym.

Prefered Kit:

Kontact Lite saddle
