Champion has a tremendous safety heritage and has been a driving force in the design and development of protective riding hats for over 40 years. The brand was founded in the 1970’s by John Ayres and his wife Bridget who identified a lack of protection offered in current riding helmets in the market at that time.

The company proudly manufacture all of its helmets in the UK at the Champion HQ, which is based in Cardiff. As one of the few UK manufacturers in the industry, Champion has a high level of control over the quality of its helmets. The company tries to be as eco-friendly as possible and manufacturing in the UK means it has a reduced carbon footprint.

Champion’s brand manager sits on the panel of experts for several safety standard committees, in both helmet and body protection. The company also works closely with the FEI, BE, BHS, Pony Club and other societies.

Champion is proud to collaborate with other leading experts in the field of safety, an example of this is the company’s most recent range, the Revolve range, which includes MIPS technology. MIPS is a brain protection system which was founded by a neurosurgeon who identified how to reduce impact to the brain for a specific type of rotational accelerated fall.

When it comes to proudest achievements, Champion has an impressive list of accolades that it has worked for. It is proud to be the choice of helmets for the Mounted Police, Household Cavalry, the Royal Family as well as a string of Olympic riders such as Pippa Funnell MBE, Piggy French, Kitty King and Sophie Wells MBE.
