As of June 2025, all Albion saddles are made using vegetable tanned leather—a more natural, environmentally conscious material that preserves the unique character and behaviour of the hide. Because of its natural properties, regular and proper care is essential to maintain the performance, longevity, and appearance of your saddle.
Leather is a perishable material. Without consistent cleaning and conditioning, it will dry out, discolour, and become brittle—leading to cracking, colour loss, and premature ageing of both stitching and leather. Common causes of leather damage include sweat, excessive heat, direct sunlight, damp conditions, and lack of maintenance.
A well-maintained saddle will remain soft, supple, and beautiful for many years. Regular care is not just a recommendation—it’s essential, and lack of maintenance will invalidate your warranty
Recommended Products
To ensure the best care for your Albion saddle, we recommend using Albion’s own range of leather care products. Each product has undergone rigorous testing to guarantee complete compatibility with our saddles and accessories.
When you purchase a new Albion saddle, you’ll receive a complimentary Luxury Leather Soap and Balm to help you begin your care routine from day one.
As of June 2025, we have updated the formulation of our Luxury Leather Balm to work specifically with our new vegetable tanned leather. This updated balm is also suitable for use on older Albion saddles and accessories.
Please note: Any Albion balm purchased before June 2025 is not compatible with vegetable tanned leather and should not be used on newer saddles.
Wrapped Luxe Leather
The Wrapped-Luxe option is our most premium leather finish, offering a truly elevated look and feel. Upon arrival, the leather may appear similar to suede in texture—but once treated, it transforms into a luxuriously soft and tactile hand-feel.

Cleaning Guide
Routine Cleaning & Conditioning
To clean your Albion saddle properly, follow these simple steps:
Wipe away excess sweat and dirt using a soft cloth dampened with tepid water.
Apply Albion Luxury Leather Soap sparingly with a damp cloth to gently cleanse the leather.
Once dry, apply Albion Luxury Leather Balm sparingly with a cloth or sponge to condition and protect.
Always store your saddle at room temperature, away from direct heat, damp conditions, or sunlight.
Storage Do’s and Don’ts
DO:
Store in a dry, ventilated space on a proper saddle stand.
Use a breathable saddle cover to protect from dust and UV light.
Clean and condition regularly as part of your riding routine.
DON’T:
Don’t leave in damp, humid environments.
Don’t expose to direct heat or sunlight for extended periods.
Don’t use harsh cleaners, oils, or alcohol-based products.
Don’t neglect regular maintenance—this will compromise the leather and your warranty.
Warranty Details
At Albion, we take great pride in the craftsmanship and quality of our products. All Albion items are covered by a comprehensive warranty that protects against faulty materials and poor workmanship.
In the unlikely event of a warranty claim, we will carry out an approved repair or replacement free of charge, provided the following conditions are met:
Proof of original purchase is supplied. Warranties are valid exclusively with the original purchaser of the saddle and are non-transferable.
The item is examined and approved by an authorised Albion representative
No unauthorised repairs or alterations have been made (any such actions will invalidate the warranty)
Saddles
Saddle trees are covered by a 5-year warranty against breakage under normal usage and conditions.
All other saddle components are covered by a 2-year warranty for manufacturing defects.
Wear and tear is not covered under warranty.
Important: All adjustments to Albion trees must be carried out by authorised personnel only. Warranties will be effective from the date of purchase from an authorised Albion stockist/partner/representative.
Tree Adjustment Guidelines
Adjusta-Tree™: Suitable for pressure machine adjustment
Platinum Trees: Suitable for interchangeable adjustment
All Other Trees: Must be returned to the Albion factory for adjustment
Panel Care
Our saddle panels are filled with pure new wool and are initially stuffed to a medium consistency, allowing them to naturally mould to your horse’s back. We recommend:
A fit check after approximately 12 weeks to assess wool settlement
A complete re-flock every 2–3 years, depending on use
All Other Products
All other leather Albion products carry a 1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects and component failures.
This warranty does not cover abuse, neglect, lack of maintenance, or general wear and tear.
Faulty Goods
If you discover a fault with your product, please notify us:
Within 7 days of delivery, or
Within a reasonable period after discovery (if the fault was not immediately apparent)
For items deemed faulty, we will offer either a full refund or a replacement product.
